PRESCHOOL

Preschool Blocks

Greetings from teacher Susana Antunez,

The El Camino School Children's Center is a state Preschool program administered by the Goleta Union School District and funded by the Child Development Division of the California State Department of Education. The program is designed to assist children from low income families to help prepare them for entry into kindergarten.

Each class is limited to 24 students and has an 8:1 ration of children to teachers. Qualified preschool teachers join two instructional aides in a three hour, forty-five minute program, five days a week. Information meetings take place in late February and eligibility and enrollment meetings follow in April. Preschool classes also exist on the Ellwood and Isla Vista School sites.

PHILOSOPHY:
Our hope is to be a significant source of support for each family while providing a caring learning environment for each child. The goals of the program strongly reflect an abiding sense of respect for children, their unique cultures, and individual development.

The classroom environment offers a rich variety of space, material and activities organized to promote children's active exploration and mastery.

If you have any questions about the program please contact me: (805) 692-5574.

Thank You,
Susana Antunez
